Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year!

sorry for the long awaited next post from the last one..

abit late but anyways, BLESSED CHRISTMAS to ALLL!! and definitely not forgetting a happy NEW YEAR ahead!

to some, this yr might had been a fruitful wan, but to some it might have been a hard n painful wan.. but whichever it is.. we definitely still must thank the Lord for seeing us through and always being there for us (though some of us might have thought that God is never near us)

hoping that all of us are looking forward to a whole new year where we can "restart" it with a whole new meaning in life..

MYF-MYAF Christmas Party

Ah, another year is coming to an end, but just before that, may we just come together and celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ into this world. Wanna know what's installed for MYF this time? For the first time in many moons, we're going to celebrate Christmas together with the MYAF-ers with a 'big-do' Christmas Party!!! NO ADMISSION FEE IS REQUIRED**! This will be our final activity for the year as there will not be any MYF meetings in December until next year. Anyway, here are the details:

Time : 6.00 p.m. - 10.00 p.m.
Date : 28th November, 2009
Venue : MPH/ Church Canteen
Things to bring :
1. Yourself

2. Your friends (if possible)
3. A gift (value ranging from RM5.00 - RM 10.00)

As this is going to be a 'big do', we want you to also invite your friends to come and celebrate Christmas with us! Have a friend who's got nothing to do this coming Saturday? Bring him/ her along and join in the fun!

Spending a Day with Kids from St. Jerome

We're so happy to have the children from St. Jerome Orphanage coming over to our church this coming Saturday. Like any good and hospitable host, this time it's our turn to come and receive them. Victor Vethamani AND his son Santosh (who will be doing a special Xmas medley with his guitar!) to come and share we us on a topic we've always been interested in, Why Xmas? Isn't it a fitting topic as we wait for the season to come by? Through the years we've been celebrating Christmas as they come and go. Have we ever thought about the significance of celebrating it? MYF Movie Day - "Facing the Giants"

For our upcoming MYF meeting this Saturday (7-11-2009), we're going to have a movie session and watching the movie Facing the Giants. I've not watched the movie yet, but from what I've gathered about this movie, it's mainly talks about how God can work in lives of those who have faith in Him, and in this movie, the life of a football coach. This is something that most of us would have as we go through life not knowing what the future holds...

MYF Ipoh Day Trip... the So Called 'Food Trip' *updated*

Hey everyone!

For those who don't know, MYF is organising a day trip to Ipoh next Saturday (24-10-2009), to visit the sights and sounds there, to enjoy the local food there, etc. In addition to that, we are also visiting Sam and Meng Lee, aka 'Tai Ko' and 'Tai Ka Jie' (big brother and big sister). Both were once fellow MYF-ers like you and me before, who have both settled down in Ipoh, for good. Even if you don't know them, you are more than welcome to come along and meet with them, they're quite nice people...

If you would like to come, please give your names to the person in charge, currently Mandy Wong as soon as possible to give time for transportation arrangements, as well as other important arrangements.

Please note that the registration for the trip is CLOSED due to the insufficient number of drivers available. A list of MYF-ers who are coming for the trip is as follows (in no particular order):

Cost: about RM 50 (inclusive of food and two way transport)
Transport: we will be driving there.

12.30am - Bum around Ipoh town (will decide what to sight see, if there's any)
1.30pm - Lunch : Wooley Food Court for Lunch

Dear all who went for the Mooncake Festival,

just wan to say a very big thank you to all for making this trip a successful one!

Want to say a very big thankyou especially to the drivers! i hope that no white hair grew just from the trip? hehe.. can imagine the stress that u all must have gone through trying to keep up with each other..

The state or quality of being fully grown or developed (The American Heritage® Dictionary)...........aha finally a definition which I've reached through the natural biological dev. process.

Ok,,,,,,,,,,,,so by googling the word maturity anyone can come up with a 1001 definitions, but what is Maturity from a Christian perspective?

Does it inv perfection? Or age and experience? Or being fully developed?

Throwing out the Trash

Hey guys!

Just want to let everybody that Mandy is going to give a sharing this Saturday (12th September, 2009). Here's what she has to say:

"This Saturday we will be spring cleaning our minds, continuation from camp theme talks' Mindset.
Everyday we take in a lot of information, most of the time we end up collecting rubbish. When was the last time you threw out lies, fantasies, earthy desires, philosophies that center on self, revenge, doubt, worries, rebellion... etc? And replacing them with truths, good things, or lovely things or anything excellent from God's point of view?

There is a stern warning in 1 John 2:15-16,
"Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world."

There is a way, God always provides a way and it involves us to make the decision to rid of the worldly thoughts cluttering our minds. Imagine if you don't rid of the trash, so it stays in your room, whatever sweet perfume or incense you may spray or burn, the rotting stench from the trash will be covering up whatever nice smell you try to bring into your room. So are we going to be thinking of God spontaneously, abundantly and delightfully or are we gonna keep storing trash?

Remember,
... brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. (Philippians 4:8)"

Camp Aftermath....

Hi everyone!!!

We're very pleased to say that the camp that went on last week was a huge success, given the number of happy faces who came back from there. I enjoyed very much there myself too, as the camp was neither too tiring or boring. After having heard what Mr. Selvaraj said, as Christians we must not only merely live on earth as survivors but to go forth in life to become a victor by having a changed mindset (the mindset of Christ), being mature by reading His Word, respond to our own callings for ministries, and finally to continue the works of Christ by being involved in Missions...

For those who missed the camp, what can I say... (you really did miss quite a lot, I'm sure many would agree with me...) But no matter, some of the MYFers including myself have posted some of the camp photos on our Facebook. And since a picture is worth a thousand words, what are you waiting for? Here's a group photo taken just before we left for home.


And one more announcement before I take my leave, there will be no MYF meeting this Saturday (5th September, 2009). So if you're planning to share your lovely experiences with each other, I'm sorry to say that you'll just have to do so next week. It's been a wonderful experience for me managing and posting on the blog, but I can't be doing this forever, since (you know who) is back from NS. So I guess I'll just hand back the responsibility. (edited: I'm taking back what I've just said... for now!)

Things to Do and Prepare for MYF Camp

Hey everyone!

To all campers who have signed up for the camp, here are some important information for you:
  • Please have breakfast before you come.
  • Registration at KL WESLEY, 9am-10am
  • The bus will be taking us to NUBE Training Center , Port Dickson.
  • We will be back at KL WESLEY on 31/08/2009, Monday with ETA 3.30pm.

Things to bring:
1. Bible
2. Stationery (Scissors, Glue, Pencil, Pen)
3. Clothes for the beach (dark clothing for girls)
4. Running Shoes and slippers
5. Sleeping bag (optional)
6. Snacks (optional)

Emotional Wholeness (Part 2)

Hello people!

I wasn't around for the MYF Sunday, but I heard it was a smacking success for the presentation and...(the choir). I would like to extend my gratitude to those who have participated and for guests who have attended the MYF Sunday Service.

(What happened to all the photos of the MYF Sunday? I know there were quite a few for SSS's Mother's Day Choir...Surely someone somewhere must have taken some pictures down... right?)

Anyway, I bet many (some) of you have already forgotten what our speaker, Ms. Jenny Qua spoke of for the part 1of Emotional Wholeness. Here are few points I managed to note down:

  1. Physical realm vs. invincible realm- What supposedly is our birth right (what God has given us), we strive to get them in the physical realm. As of this, we are merely physically alive, and not spiritually alive (Ephesians 4:18 & 1 Corinthians 2:14). All of which cause us to have negative emotions, or being spiritually poor.
  2. The result of being being spiritually poor - Frighten, fearful, anxious, guilty, shameful, rejected, weak, powerless, depressed, angry...
  3. Crossing the border (to be spiritually alive) - "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." -John 10:10b
    (Read also John 1:1-4, John 11:25, & 1 John 5:12)
The notes above are entirely what I've noted down and may not entirely represent the full content of what was being spoken and given. But anywho, part 2 of it will be conducted by Ms. Elaine Teh (MYAF).

As we approach MYF Sunday, we hope that many of you will come and join in the choir. Even you can't make it for the Sunday practices, do come and attend the Sunday service at 8.00 a.m. or 10.00 a.m. (bring your friends too if you must!)

As fellow MYFers, let us uphold MYF in our prayers and quiet time, for Him to reveal His purpose for the MYF through the leaders who has committed their time in the serving MYF. Pray also for the upcoming camp, that He will bring in more members to come and spend their time off their busy daily routines and know what it takes to not just be a survival but a victor.

Happenings in MYF for July & August

Seeking Wholeness Series

4 July 2009 1st: Spiritual Wholeness
This topic was by Mr. Jeysing. It was a fun and v.interactive session as Mr.Jeysing pointed us back to the Word of God to highlight that Spiritual Wholeness actually relates to our personal relationship with God.

11 July 2009-2nd:Emotional Wholeness (Part 1)
Aunt Jenny spoke on this and it was a v.insightful session. We were brought back to Genesis where the fall of man took place and reminded that a lot of the negative emotions mankind face nowadays stem from a lack of SIGNIFICANCE, SECURITY & ACCEPTANCE. All these needs can be met in Christ alone and thus, He is our true answer to all the challenges we face.

3rd:Physical Wholeness (Tis Sat, 18 July 2009)
As mentioned by Jordan in the announcement below, Pui Hing, a certified nutritionist from MYAF will be sharing on this topic. She'll be touching some relevant points which we youth face particularly on POOR BODY IMAGE. Any of you really content with the way you look? Don't you just wish you were a little slimmer, taller, had flawless skin, etc.???? (Oops....tis look more like my wishing list) . Anyway, pls do come and bring your siblings or friends along to hear what God says on this topic as He is our Creator.

Yup, MYF Sun is juz around the corner, 9 July 2009 to be exact!!!!!!! Pls do come and join us for the practices. As you know, MYF Sun means that during the 8am & 10am service, the MYFers will be taking charge of the Introit, Anthem & Benediction........so there definitely is going to be singing as a choir inv. As for the Anthem, come for the prac and see what's in store and better still, help to contribute ideas.

For your information, the MYF will be conducting a "Seeking Wholeness Series" in the months of July & August. This coming Saturday (4th July, 2009) marks the beginning of the series. We will beginning the series with a talk on "Spiritual Wholeness" by Mr. Jeysing John. From what I've heard, he might be doing a fun interactive session with added video presentation. So do make an effort to come for the first session to have a glimpse on what it's all about. Till then same time same place (Saturday 3pm MYF Room Above Church Library)!

A Sizzling... Smoking Success

Those who came for the BBQ night knows what I'm talking about. After all, we had plenty of food, plenty of time for fellowship, plenty of time...

Here are some of the things and activities we did:

1) Preparing the barbecue meat, corn, etc. by placing them on skewers. Technique required. Drinks prepared by Bernard and Joanna while Ms. Allana busy cutting fruits at the sink.

Choir Concerns

Dear all,

For those who still don't know, we're going to sing in both 8.00 am & 10.00 am services next week (21st June, 2009) for the Father's Day Choir and we're still recruiting new voices. In total, we're going to sing 3 songs:


1) Come, now is the time to worship (introit)
2) You are the love (anthem)
3) Now unto him who is able to keep (traditional version for benediction)


Kelvin Wong will be our choir conductor in place of Susan. Don't worry if you're not familiar with the songs stated, but do come for next Saturday's practice same place same time. If you know somebody who's also interested, do drag them in too. Hope to see many more of you there! In the mean time, do memorise the songs if possible.

Street Ministry to Father's Day rehearsal

This saturday we will be heading down to street ministry as a whole. We will be leading thw worship and also bringing bananas down. We will gather at under the tree at 1.45pm SHARP.

After our worship leading and mingling with the street people, we will then head back to our MYF room to have a brief intro on our Father's Day songs.

MYF has been asked to sing for the both services (8am and 10am) on Father's Day. We would appreciate if we can have as many voices as possible.

Witness To The World

“This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” (John 15:8)

Witnessing to the world is one of the important disciplines of becoming a disciple of Christ. Elaine Teh from MYAF came to talk on this topic last Saturday. She deserved a loud applause from us because of her wonderful sharing that reminds us that we must be bold and go out to share the Good News to the others.

What are we witnessing about? It is about God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit for God’s glory to proclaim God’s love to the world. We are the light and the question brought up was ‘Are we prepared to bring this light into the darkness?’ We, Christians are known as the Planters and Harvesters in witnessing. So, we are called to witness and it is not an option (John 15:16) but it is God’s command to us. To witness, we must first bear the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) and we must remember that we are guided by the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8).

However, there are many things that are holding us back to witness such as fear of rejection, failure, contamination and lack of skill. Actually, we should know that we are only the mouthpiece of God so that we can witness to the world and the Holy Spirit is always guiding us. So, the relationship with God must be built so that the Holy Spirit can guide us through the Words. But, there is a cost of witnessing that is sacrifice.

People need the Lord
So, the crucial question now is:-
“Do you dare to trust God entirely?”
“Do you have the calling to stay home?”

People Do Need the Lord

WITNESSING TO THE WORLD by Elaine Teh fr MYAF, was really an eye-opener to me.

The song video she played People Need the Lord keeps playing in my mind.

It was a really inspiring message by Elaine with the call "Do we have a calling to stay at home?", to which I thought "I thought I do, I thought missions were for those die-hard Christians who are willing to go to the remotest places to share the gospel with those who have never heard it".........but,now I know how wrong I am.

In fact, her sharing abt us wo don't see the nedd to share the gospel really woke me up. Why don't we see the need? Are we that far fr Christ that we don't see the need of His presence in our daily lives?

There is no MYF tis Sat as it is Church Camp wkened and some of us inc. myself will be away!!!!!!!!!! But, do join us again on 30 May for the last session of our Masterlife 1 series led by William on Ministering to Others, I'm sure it wld be a session worth coming for. And the following wk 6 June, all are welcomed to join us at 1pm (meet in frt of Menara) for Street Ministry, followed by a prac session for those interested to sing on Father's Day, 21 June 2009.

Summary of Fellowship With Believers

The topic for sharing last week was Fellowship with Believers, with William facilitating.

Fellowship finds it basis in Acts 2:42-47, which is where the word “Koinonia” was first used. We are also told in the Bible that the world would know us as Jesus’ disciples by loving one another. Though it may be hard to love others, especially when our character clashes with theirs and we feel that they don’t deserve our love, if we inspect ourselves closely as well, we don’t deserve their love, or anyone else’s. We love because God loved us first.

No one likes being alone, thus the need for fellowship. Other evidences showing that fellowship is essential are that the two most important commandments (Matt 22:37, 39) deal with loving and that God created Eve as He didn’t want Adam to be alone.

Fellowship also enables God to work in our lives through other people. James 5:19 tells us that we are to correct those who stray from the truth, but just as we need to give others help, we too need help. Ephesians 4:16 tells us too that we are all unique parts in the Body of God, and that each of us has our own specific purpose.

We might stay away from church because we say that church is boring or does not suit our taste. However, we can’t accept Jesus, yet reject His body, or go church shopping, as we should be committed to solving any problems our church is facing.

In real fellowship, people experience authenticity, mutuality, sympathy and mercy. There is no perfect church as we are all broken people and thus, we can’t make a perfect church. However, in true fellowship, we experience mercy, as we learn to accept other people’s – and our own – deficiencies.

fellowship...

this saturday will be part 4 of the Masterlife Book 1 series.
the previous sessions have been a good discussion and hopefully has been equipping and bringing understanding to MYFers.

this part 4 session is about fellowship. just have a thought about it.
what's the difference between fellowship and socializing?
is one holier than the other?
what is its purpose?
is it really necessary?

well, just some of the questions to think about.

after MYF, there is dinner and a movie session with the MYAF , titled 'Amazing Grace' about William Wilberforce and his role as a Christian fighting against slavery. (i hope i got that right).

Praying in Faith

Mandy's sharing last Sat on Praying In Faith was refreshing and made us reflect why do we pray in the 1st place. Her sharing made us realise praying was not just about us expressing all our wants and needs to God, but more importantly to know God's will and purpose for us at every turn we make.The sharing also reminded us that prayer also included a time for us to intercede for others to know Christ and be saved. Indeed, it was an enlightening session and I look foward to our next Masterlife 1:The Disciple's Cross session tis Sat, 'Fellowship with Believers', and our practical application after that.......hehe, Movie night with the MYAFers and other brothers and sisters in Christ, movie is Amazing Grace which is about how the song came about and abolishment of slavery in Great Britain (hope I got it right). Hope to c u all there!

Do you see God?

The meeting started with a very interesting and unexpected intro.

A story was told about a bride-to-be who is very vibrant and cheerful, and a guy who was not her husband-to-be, a boring, simple, not attractive person. They both met during the preparation of the wedding, this boring guy fell in love at first sight of this bride-to-be. BTW he was there because he was her father's pupil.
The rest of the story would probably need you to get the movie from Anusha.

What's this got to do with living in God's word?
Have it ever cross your mind that you could possibly see God in another person? In other words, to see a glimpse of God's characteristics and quality in a human being on earth?

If a person is in Christ, he or she would be developing character of Christlikeness in them? Obviously that's one of the tangible fruit of a disciple continually being transformed by Christ.

Memory verse John 8:31-32
Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

Isn't this a good enough reason to be serious about knowing who God is and what God has to say to us as we live our lives each day?

One of the ways of getting input of the word is through doing Quiet Time.
You probably have thoughts, yeah, this is the most standard answer u always hear. But what do you do with your Quiet Time? Do you know what other reasons having emphasising this discipline?

1. To know God through fellowship with Him (spending time with the master)
2. To receive direction and guidance for daily decisions (allowing God to work in us to change our will to His will)
3. To bring needs before God (this is vital, in a relationship, because God cares and loves you, he also wants you to trust Him with your needs and concerns)
4. To bear spiritual fruits (if you remember the previous memory verse, it was about abiding in Christ the vine in order to bear fruit)

This Saturday will be another fundamental discipline, we tend to take for granted or perhaps doing without even knowing why. Pray in faith.

Honestly, I'm havin trouble with the 1st step.........but praise God for being patient with us.

Brief Summary of Masterlife 1 - Spend Time With The Master



What does discipleship really mean?
Possible answers will be: studentship, follower-ship, apprenticeship, being obedient, being faithful, having to sacrifice something, surrendering, etc.

Christian discipleship is developing a personal, lifelong, obedient relationship with Jesus Christ in which He transforms your character into Christlikneness; changes your values into Kingdom values; and involves you in His mission in the home, the church, and the world.

Discipleship simply means putting God first before anything else, and having a personal relationship without any barriers in between.

Obedience is the key to discipleship which leads to two things.
1. knowing the commandments (knowing)
2. memorizing the scriptures (doing)

3 things which ensures us that we are abiding in Christ
- maintaining quiet time
- reading God's Word
- scripture memorizing

Memorizing scriptures will help us in times of temptation, trials, difficulty moments by remembering the promises and assurance from God.

Things to ponder for as we journey on this week..
1. Is God your first priority in life everyday?
2. Does God come into life only when problems arise? Do you seek Him both in big and small problems or only for the big ones, thinking that you should not be troubling Him and settle the small problems yourself?
3. Are you doing your quiet time daily because it is part of a "to do list" thing, or is it because you want to have a deeper relationship with Him?

Master Life comes to MYF!

Master Life has landed in MYF and this is a one-and-only chance to grab hold of it before it is too late!!

Master Life contains of 6 topics and it starts from 18th April (this saturday) till 30th May with a break in between with a movie night on 9th May and another break on 23rd May as it is the Church Camp period and the admission is FREE!!! (Does this sound convincing enough with breaks and the course is FOC?) *mind you, the Master Life sessions that the church provides does not have ANY in between breaks, it starts from 8am to 9.30am, and it charges a fee of RM 22 for the book!

Ms. Allana will kick start the Master Life sessions with the first topic, "Spend Time With The Master". Do come as we build a stronger foundation in our Rock and Redeemer as Ms. Allana touches on the following 4 points.

1) How is your soul?
2) Do you see yourself as a fruitful branch connected to the true Vine, our Lord Jesus?
3) Is it your desire to be so connected to Jesus and reap His promise of fruitfulness in your life?
4) The 6 things you must do.

Annual Easter Cross Deco:Big Thank You to all who came

Indeed there was an abundance of flowers (and 'showers of blessing') but the height of the trees proved a challenge (thanks to William and his long stick branch cutter......sorry don't noe what to call it, an investment MYF shld make for future Easter cross deco....hehe)

Annual Easter Cross Deco

Easter is once again round the corner and as tradition of the MYF, we will once again head down to the Cheras cemetery to pluck frangipanis and to pin it to the Easter Cross which is will be "displayed" at the Sunrise Service at 6.45am. After decorating the cross, we will then head to the Prayer Vigil slort which MYF has taken and that is from 4.30pm to 5pm in the main sanctuary.

Our Mysterious Friends


Ever wondered what makes your friends tick (and even sometimes go BOOM!!!)..... or why is it that there's that special someone that makes you feel great or just rubs you the wrong way sometimes. You might think that it's all to do with chemistry, but what if it ain't the way u look or smell but how different people perceive and process information... hmmmm. Come by the MYF room this Saturday 4th April and learn more about yourself and how you perceive others or how others perceive you. Take a test to see what's your personality type :) and learn to appreciate how you and others are wired differently and how to handle each other with love and care.

FINSIHING STRONG INDEED!!!!

William's sharing on FINISHING STRONG indeed did literally finish strong. Although he had lost his voice and was not well, he shared at the 11th hour (with Ms. Allana's prodding), and indeed it was a worth every min........KUDOS to William for
blessing all fo us with his sharing. Indeed, it would spur many of us to persevere esp in tough circumstances knowing God has a purpose for us. Also, many thanks to Naomi for the CNY pics, and to Elaine Loh for her beuatiful write-up on our Xmas partu last year in Wesley Tidings. All praise and glory to God!!!!!!

Past Face Lift, Upcoming activities

Hi all,

Thanks to evry1 for helping clear up and organize all the stuff we have in MYF......indeed we have many stationeries etc. which we had no idea of b4. There will be a FACELIFT 2 as William said.......hopefully there will be more hands this time around.

I look forward to William's sharing tis Sat on Finishing Strong as I'm sure from the title itself, that it would be v. refreshing and there will be a lot for us to discuss and share, so pls do come

This Sun is our food sale (120 nasi lemak and 80 mee hoon), we will need volunteers to be at the canteen by 8am-9.50am.......if u hav never done this b4 or hav and enjoyed it (hehe), pls do come and lend a hand.

Also, do look out for our Easter Cross Deco on 11 April......pray for good weather,yup, we don't want to be picking flowers in a graveyard with the rain pouring down us (has happened.....an experience in itself).

the Face Lift (of the MYF room) was a success.
everyone was tired by then. even i had had enough.
buying drinks slipped my mind. aiyah.. should have bought.
cleaning, throw and organizing has been done. we're left with stock check and decoration. till Face Lift, part 2.

Youth Prayer Conference 2009

Please check your dates and among your circle of friends to see if any interested in going for the Youth Prayer Conference. It's an annual event where youths from all over Malaysia's Methodist Churches come together and pray. It is during the school holidays too. All the details that I have are as follows:

Date: 19 March - 22 March 2009 (Thursday - Sunday)
Closing Date: 9th March
Venue: WMC, Ipoh
Fees: RM 80.00

Please issue all your payments to "The Methodist Church in Malaysia" and send your registration form together with payment to: TRAC, No. 2, Jalan 5/39, 46000 Petaling Jaya.

The list of things to bring for those going for the YPC 2009:

1. Sleeping Bag or bedsheet and pillow case ( there will be mattresses and pillows provided)
2. Bible and journal or writing material

4. Own Toiletries
5. Medicine for those who have allergies or they need to take the medication (if any)

God-inspired sharings

Hi all,

1stly, I'd like to thank Mandy for her talk on the Blood of Christ, teaching us the value of the blood that cleanses us from all sins, and reminding us of the sure ground we shld stand on. For those of you'll who came for service last Sun, what Mandy shared had a lot of connection to the sermon, whereby assurance of forgiveness of sin is the 1st step of becoming children of God. Thanks once again Mandy for your sharing. Also want to thank Bernard who did a great job on sharing abt prayer, teaching us to talk to God. Look forward to the comin sharings from other MYF Committee members, and hope more of you'll can come and be blessed.

Discipleship Campaign

Dear all,

have all of you sign up for it yet? Tmr is the LAST DAY!! *for those of you who aren't sure of what this is.. below is the explanation*

Just to inform that for those of you wants to join this campaign but dunno where to meet for fridays, Anusha is leading a group in Aunty Jenny Qua's house every friday starting from 27th Feb to 3rd April for youths at 8pm.

The campaign will start from tmr's sermon so please do sign up before the service and collect your book immidiately for we have to take down notes of the sermon in our books.

The Discipleship Campaign is a church wide campaign commencing from 22nd February 2009 – 4th March 2009 and leading to the Holy Week (40 days devotion), and all church members of KLWMC, worshippers and visitors of our church are encouraged to participate.
The focus areas of the Discipleship Campaign are:
1. Getting to know the Father
2. Conversations with God
3. Lordship as a Relationship
4. Disciple’s Learning
5. Disciple’s Lifestyle
6. Disciple’s Responsibility

A private daily devotion handbook will be provided to all who register and participants will be grouped into discussion groups for six Friday evenings from 27th Feb to 3rd April 2009. During this campaign, there will be no Small Group / Parish meetings to enable greater churchwide participation.

This is how the book goes..it starts with listening to the sermon on Sundays and taking notes of it, then do a personal devotion from mon to fri, then going to small groups which you have been assigned to.. to discuss on what you have learned. On sat, you will do a reflection on the whole week and on what you have discussed the day before in small group. Then it starts the cycle again on Sunday.

Thank you Bernard for reminding us why it is so important to pray. Not just pray for the sake of wishing God to do something, but to ...
Pray with Power, Faith, Purpose and Passion. Even if God knows already what's in our heart, but to commit to pray is also to come into the presence of God, acknowledging Him as Lord, humbling ourselves, and worshiping our maker. At the same time, thanksgiving, confession, petition and intercede for others.

Topic of study : "This is My Blood for your Sins"
This Saturday would be my turn to share, however to prepare everyone including myself for this topic. I humbly request that you take 5-15 minutes a day to read just this 1 chapter and take down notes along the way.

You may print the text version or simply read online. Bible verses are also given for easy reference. It is very convenient.
Normal Christian Life - Chapter 1 : The Blood of Christ by Watchman Nee (not to be mistaken for Watchmen comic)

Chapter 1 has 7 subtopics You will only need 45 min - 1 hour to read the whole chapter if you read the bible references too.

Suggestion of Reading Breakdown for this week and questions would be:
15 feb - Our Dual Problem: Sins and Sin & God’s Dual Remedy: The Blood and the Cross
Q1: Sin is a problem, what have been made known to man in Romans 1:18-20? Q2: Take time to look through the list of sinful desires which you are struggling with in Romans 1:21-32. Q3: What has the Blood of Christ done? Romans 3:25 & 5:9)

MYFers came for 2 consecutive saturdays (during CNY even) to make handsewn heart phone charms and foam hearts diy message/gift cards. ALL HANDMADE all just for raising funds for our new building project, "LEGACY TREE".

Sales was GOOD. Praise God! for long weekend sunday, we managed to get sales of RM540! Will need to minus the cost of materials used. Items sold were
Crochet Rose pagefinder, assorted colours at RM8 each
Stitched Heartshaped phone charm RM6 (ornamented) & RM5 (simple), assorted combination of 2 coloured felts
DIY message or gift cards with craftfoam Hearts with zig-zag on one side - RM5 with a set of 4 different combination. 2" x 4" and can be folded in half.

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE HARDWORK. we still have DIY giftcards and limited amount of phone charms left. which u can use or give even if its not for valentines. ANY TAKERS?
