Minister to others....

hello everyone,

welcome back from the break of Church Camp or just enjoying the break :P
this saturday will be Masterlife part 6.

recap on the past verses that we went through...

Luke 9:23, John 15:5
John 8:31-32
John 15:7
John 13:34-35
John 15:8

question to think about...

what does 'minister to others' mean?
what is serving?
why do you serve God?
is it worth it serving?
model answer is yes.
so why is it that only so few are serving and ministering to others?
why do YOU find it hard to serve?

Witness To The World

“This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” (John 15:8)

Witnessing to the world is one of the important disciplines of becoming a disciple of Christ. Elaine Teh from MYAF came to talk on this topic last Saturday. She deserved a loud applause from us because of her wonderful sharing that reminds us that we must be bold and go out to share the Good News to the others.

What are we witnessing about? It is about God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit for God’s glory to proclaim God’s love to the world. We are the light and the question brought up was ‘Are we prepared to bring this light into the darkness?’ We, Christians are known as the Planters and Harvesters in witnessing. So, we are called to witness and it is not an option (John 15:16) but it is God’s command to us. To witness, we must first bear the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) and we must remember that we are guided by the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8).

However, there are many things that are holding us back to witness such as fear of rejection, failure, contamination and lack of skill. Actually, we should know that we are only the mouthpiece of God so that we can witness to the world and the Holy Spirit is always guiding us. So, the relationship with God must be built so that the Holy Spirit can guide us through the Words. But, there is a cost of witnessing that is sacrifice.

People need the Lord
So, the crucial question now is:-
“Do you dare to trust God entirely?”
“Do you have the calling to stay home?”

God Bless,
Bernard

People Do Need the Lord

WITNESSING TO THE WORLD by Elaine Teh fr MYAF, was really an eye-opener to me.

The song video she played People Need the Lord keeps playing in my mind.

It was a really inspiring message by Elaine with the call "Do we have a calling to stay at home?", to which I thought "I thought I do, I thought missions were for those die-hard Christians who are willing to go to the remotest places to share the gospel with those who have never heard it".........but,now I know how wrong I am.

In fact, her sharing abt us wo don't see the nedd to share the gospel really woke me up. Why don't we see the need? Are we that far fr Christ that we don't see the need of His presence in our daily lives?

There is no MYF tis Sat as it is Church Camp wkened and some of us inc. myself will be away!!!!!!!!!! But, do join us again on 30 May for the last session of our Masterlife 1 series led by William on Ministering to Others, I'm sure it wld be a session worth coming for. And the following wk 6 June, all are welcomed to join us at 1pm (meet in frt of Menara) for Street Ministry, followed by a prac session for those interested to sing on Father's Day, 21 June 2009.

God bless,
Anu

Summary of Fellowship With Believers

The topic for sharing last week was Fellowship with Believers, with William facilitating.

Fellowship finds it basis in Acts 2:42-47, which is where the word “Koinonia” was first used. We are also told in the Bible that the world would know us as Jesus’ disciples by loving one another. Though it may be hard to love others, especially when our character clashes with theirs and we feel that they don’t deserve our love, if we inspect ourselves closely as well, we don’t deserve their love, or anyone else’s. We love because God loved us first.

No one likes being alone, thus the need for fellowship. Other evidences showing that fellowship is essential are that the two most important commandments (Matt 22:37, 39) deal with loving and that God created Eve as He didn’t want Adam to be alone.

Fellowship also enables God to work in our lives through other people. James 5:19 tells us that we are to correct those who stray from the truth, but just as we need to give others help, we too need help. Ephesians 4:16 tells us too that we are all unique parts in the Body of God, and that each of us has our own specific purpose.

We might stay away from church because we say that church is boring or does not suit our taste. However, we can’t accept Jesus, yet reject His body, or go church shopping, as we should be committed to solving any problems our church is facing.

In real fellowship, people experience authenticity, mutuality, sympathy and mercy. There is no perfect church as we are all broken people and thus, we can’t make a perfect church. However, in true fellowship, we experience mercy, as we learn to accept other people’s – and our own – deficiencies.

fellowship...

this saturday will be part 4 of the Masterlife Book 1 series.
the previous sessions have been a good discussion and hopefully has been equipping and bringing understanding to MYFers.

this part 4 session is about fellowship. just have a thought about it.
what's the difference between fellowship and socializing?
is one holier than the other?
what is its purpose?
is it really necessary?

well, just some of the questions to think about.

after MYF, there is dinner and a movie session with the MYAF , titled 'Amazing Grace' about William Wilberforce and his role as a Christian fighting against slavery. (i hope i got that right).

Praying in Faith

Mandy's sharing last Sat on Praying In Faith was refreshing and made us reflect why do we pray in the 1st place. Her sharing made us realise praying was not just about us expressing all our wants and needs to God, but more importantly to know God's will and purpose for us at every turn we make. The sharing also reminded us that prayer also included a time for us to intercede for others to know Christ and be saved. Indeed, it was an enlightening session and I look foward to our next Masterlife 1:The Disciple's Cross session tis Sat, 'Fellowship with Believers', and our practical application after that.......hehe, Movie night with the MYAFers and other brothers and sisters in Christ, movie is Amazing Grace which is about how the song came about and abolishment of slavery in Great Britain (hope I got it right). Hope to c u all there!
