Shepherd's Foundation Home

Dear all,

we will be heading for Shepherd's Foundation Home (Orphanage Home) on 11th December.

purpose : to distribute gifts to each one of the kids and to share the joy of Christmas with these kids

please gather at MYF room at 1.30pm sharp so that we can take out all the presents from the room and bring it to the respective cars ..

we are hoping to leave the church by 1.45pm .

Dear all,

there will be a special event on 3rd September (Friday) at 6.30pm. This is open to all MYFers in the KL District. All the 6 Chapters of MYFers within the KL District will be meeting up together to get to know each other and also pray for the nation! Do come as this would be a good time to come together as ONE to intercede for Malaysia. It will be held in the church canteen. Info can be obtained from any MYF council committee. For those who got transport difficulties.. all you will need to do is to land yourself in church and your going home trip will be taken care of!!

Hey all,

The 1st session was on Ice-Breakers, and now we move on to Games.

Honestly, I'm no 'Games Sifu' (every1 who came for the MYF Camp 09 would realize our Games Master is William), but I guess that's what will make this session 'spicier' as I'm just an ordinary person like you.

So, pls do come to make this session more meaningful & fun, afterall you can't play Cluedo with 2-3 people and enjoy it.............the more the merrier.

we will be mass producing bookmarks this saturday as an outreach activity. We will be cutting, writing, laminating, and defitely will be having lots of fun too!

For all who came last week for MYF, didn't we have a good refreshing time having a 1hr silent retreat where we managed to get the worldly things out of our minds and just focus on what God wanted to speak to us.. being still in His presence?

Let us continue reflecting the three verses: Matthew 11:28-30, Jeremiah 29:11 and Psalm 46:10 as we prepare ourselves to hear on what our speaker will share with us for this week..

Easter Cross Deco

Dear all,

Easter is just around the corner, and so it is time to carry out our annual easter cross decoration which will be held on:

Date: 3rd April (Saturday)
Time: 1 pm (we will leave at about 1.15pm)
Venue: meet under the tree (will adjourn to the cemetery)

We would arrive back at about 2.30pm - 3pm and will then start decorating the cross with the frangipanies that we have collected.

For those who do not want to go to the cemetery with us at 1pm, then please meet under the tree at 2.30pm to start watering the oasis (the green sponge) first.

Made in MYF - MYF Craft Day

Good day everyone!!!

For this coming week's MYF meeting, we will be opening up a mini handicraft making factory to make little souvenirs. The purpose: To raise fund for the church's Legacy Tree Project.

Last year we did the same thing, making little heart pillow key chains, little message cards, and lovely bookmarks. This year, we're going to make little crosses that can be used as a key chain, a phone strap, a pendant, etc. This shows the prototypes to give you an idea on how the crosses would look like when they are done:

Simple to make, in less than 1/2 hour per cross.

Feeling a little creative? Or a little itchy hands already? Then come give a hand at this Saturday's meeting (20th Saturday 2010), 3 p.m. at the MYF meeting room. Facelift 2

Hey everyone!

For those who don't know, Facelift is a once-in-a-while activity of cleaning and tidying up our beloved MYF room. As we have previously conducted one last year, we will continue on conducting Facelift 2 this Saturday (13th March 2010). We really need a lot of hands to help clean up the room, so do come and support this activity!

Come and listen to the Field Director ON Nepal, Mr. Michael Huff, as he speaks on the topic "Missons & the OM Nepal Internship Programme for Young people". He will be speaking on the same topic on two different dates.

3 Idiots: MYF Movie Day (20 Feb 2010)

3 Idiots is a must-see for movie for anyone, young or old. Its basically a story about these 3 guys in an Engineering Uni in India, one of them is genius and the other two seem to be the 2 most backward ones in class. Its really funny & inspiring at the same time, you have a bit of the usual romantic masala with Bollywood queen Kareena Kapoor, great music (there's subtitles for this), a story on true friendship,a protagonist,Aamir Khan who is not your usual Bollywood hunk (though definitely picture perfect face-wise.......hehe) and an individual who seems to touch everyone he meets with his different outlook on life.Don't miss it....and soon you'll be singin Aal Iz Well

Teamwork

Leader's Confidence in God - by Mandy & Albert

Ever wonder how leaders get their confidence to rise up to the occasion? So where does your confidence comes from? Whether you see yourself as a leader or not, God created man, and place you and me in charge of things. “To rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground”

(Genesis 1:26).

A person’s identity has to do with who he or she perceives him/herself to be. If your sense of identity is not accurate, you will likely overvalue your own worth or withdraw from fully engaging life out of fear that you are not adequate.

This Saturday, we will want to reflect and find out how some place their confidence in God instead of themselves.

Yes! The above talks about how important it is for us to constantly have confidence in God and to put our trust in him. Time and place are as usual (it's 3.00 p.m. at the MYF Room that's just above the church library in case you don't know) so come early okay? Now isn't this a good topic to start a new year with? Dear all,

just want to write a simple (not a script, trust me! haha) note from me of the updates of MYF and of what's up so far in MYF..

Just to let all of you (the readers) know, MYF has been really blessed by God after the downfall and many of us (the council) and the regular members could see that God has been really good for the whole past yr (2009) and this yr..

Last yr, the committee and regular members grew alot much closer among each other.. building up in our relationship with God and among ourselves.. we concentrated more on inner growth than outdoor activities and we could really see that right now we are actually much more open to one another than before..

this yr, after the one yr of closeness and growth between each other, MYF decided to take one more step further and God has opened a door for us for that.. He gave us the YWCA girls (young women christian association)..

YWCA sponsors about 100 girls all around the country yearly to come into YWCA to learn on the various courses that are available (ie. nursing, kindy, computer, sewing) and God has opened this opportunity where MYF could reach out to them.. 90% of them are Christians and so MYF have been reaching out to them weekly (started 1st week of Jan) by bringing them over to our weekly activities..

so let's all do cont praying that we will be fulfilling God's purpose in MYF and also in our own personal lives..

Making of an Event

sorry for this late post but here goes of what is happening on this sat..

have you ever come acrossed an event where you will just stare marvelously at the planning, the coordination, the well time management, the back seen work, the orderly placing of each thing..

ever plan to know of how to achieve that? mind you, not only professionals can be able to achieve that, normal people such as you and i can too! want to learn more about how to make an event run smoothly..

come and join us this saturday.. same time (3pm), same place (MYF room, above the library), as we learn of how to make an event the easy, fun, and simple way.. definitely all indivudual ideas and contributions are allowed too..

MYF Movie Day: Taare Zameen Par (Like Stars on Earth)

· Time: 3.00-6.00pm (movie will start playing on the dot, so don’t be late)

MYF kickstarts 2010 with a Bollywood movie entitled Taare Zameen Par. For all those expecting a lovey-dovey story with melodious songs, dancing around coconut trees and whatever else most people assume when you mention the word Bollywood movie, this movie has none of the above although there is great music with deep meaning.

The movie revolves around a little boys who’s super-creative but has a problem when it comes to reading and writing, his personal struggle as well as his family’s struggle and how him being sent to a boarding school as a last resort turns to be a blessing in disguise, when a new Arts teacher takes an interest in this boy and goes all out to help him. So do come and see this really touching & inspiring movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S.: To all the girls in the house, our YWCA sisters will be joining us too. We need some volunteers to come early (ie. sharp 2.30 p.m., meet in front of Youth Centre, under tree) to go to YWCA and help bring the girls over. Those interested, pls notify me ASAP.
