Why Xmas? - Rev. Victor Vethamani

Hey everyone!

Sorry for the late notice. But anyway, for this Saturday's (14-11-2009) MYF meeting, we're glad to invite Rev. Victor Vethamani AND his son Santosh (who will be doing a special Xmas medley with his guitar!) to come and share we us on a topic we've always been interested in, Why Xmas? Isn't it a fitting topic as we wait for the season to come by? Through the years we've been celebrating Christmas as they come and go. Have we ever thought about the significance of celebrating it? How is it more significant than the various sparkling and familiar decorations in shopping complexes or the expensive presents that we get? Interested to know? Do come and hear for yourself! See you there!

Venue: Hall 1, Dream Centre

2 Jalan 13/1, Seksyen 13

Influential networks like National Geographic, Discovery and BBC Channels are propagating new portraits (or fabrications) of Jesus that distort if not contradict what Christians traditionally believe about Jesus for 2000 years.

This Kairos Public Forum seeks to explain why these TV producers rely on pagan Mystery Religions and 2nd century Gnosticism texts to reconstruct new portraits Jesus, what methods and assumptions inform the scholars who advise these media channels for their distorted views of Jesus.

The Forum also offers evidence for the integrity of the New Testament Gospels as reliable historical records of Jesus’ life and ministry and critiques popular images of Christ in contemporary society.

Topics/Speakers

1) The Fabricated Jesus of Contemporary TV Documentaries

Speaker: Mr. Philip Koh

(Partner of a legal firm in Kuala Lumpur and Director of Kairos Research Centre)

2) The Historical Christ of the New Testament: The Test of History

Speaker: Dr. Ng Kam Weng

(Research Director of Kairos Research Centre)

3) The Real Jesus Christ and Contextual Christs Today: Who makes the real difference?

Speaker: Dr. Ng Kam Weng

Date: Saturday 5 December 2009

Time: 9.30pm – 12.00 noon

MYF Movie Day - "Facing the Giants"

'With God, all things are possible...'

Hey everyone!

For our upcoming MYF meeting this Saturday (7-11-2009), we're going to have a movie session and watching the movie Facing the Giants. I've not watched the movie yet, but from what I've gathered about this movie, it's mainly talks about how God can work in lives of those who have faith in Him, and in this movie, the life of a football coach. This is something that most of us would have as we go through life not knowing what the future holds...

(
For more information about this movie, please visit here.)

Sounds interesting? Do come this Saturday same time same place and catch this movie for yourself!

God Bless!
